Paz Vega was born on the 2nd day of January 1976 in Seville, Andalucia, and she took her stage name from her grandmother. When she turned 15, it occurred to her that she wanted to become an actress after witnessing a performance of Federico Garcia Lorca’s “La Casa de Bernarda Alba”. After completing her education at the age of 16, she entered a prestigious stage school, Centro Andaluz de Teatro. She then moved to Madrid to pursue a career in acting after a couple of years in the stage school and a couple more years of studying media studies. She made her official entrance on the world of entertainment when she was able to land a role in the Spanish TV series, Menudo es mi padre, as rhumba singer El Fary. She then made it on the silver screen in the film Zapping in 1999, right after appearing in two other TV series – Mas que amigos and the teeny-tearjerker series, Compañeros.
