Out of the 12 girls who formed the novelty pop group D’Bodies, Jeannette Joaquin stands out. Why? She’s one of those whose name wasn’t taken from a shampoo or soap brand. Also, she, among others, embodies the group’s image: sexy, adventurous, aggressive.
When D’Bodies were still known as the Baywalk Bodies, Jeannette and the rest of the group have hogged the news after law enforcers apprehended them while walking scantily dressed along Baywalk on Roxas Boulevard. While they reasoned that they were just having a pictorial, the police, nevertheless corted them off to the precinct.
That publicity stunt made the girls a staple of tabloid TV, giving their contemporaries in the sexy, novelty pop genre like the Viva Hotbabes, and a splinter that laid claim to the name “Baywalk Bodies,” stiff competition.
But through time, Jeannette probably learned some tricks of the trade and cooked up her own gimmick to ensure a career in show business. She has been talking about how adventurous and aggressive she is in her relationships with persons of both genders.
Still a fledging star, she has proved that being in the midst of controversy can seal her some deals with the likes of FLT Films in which she starred in a series of bold films including Pagsaluhan; Tumitibok, Kumikirot; Balat-sibuyas; Ako, Siya o Ikaw; and Biyahera. DMAfinidad
